Causes and symptoms of human papillomavirus
What is papilloma
The human papillomavirus (HPV) causes changes in the nature of tissue growth. It becomes the cause of various skin diseases and lesions of mucous membranes. Modern medicine distinguishes more than a hundred types of the virus.
Papilloma is a tumor, considered benign, grows on the surface of the skin and looks like a small nipple. The size of the papilloma can be from one to two cm. Place of appearance: the shell of the mouth, nose, pharynx, vocal cords. can form on the bladder and in other places.
Depending on the type of virus, there are also different diseases: warts are caused by the human papillomavirus type 2 and 4, flat warts by the virus of the third and the 10th type, genital warts by the 6th and 11th types. Some types of virus (16, 18, 31, 33, 35) cause dysplasia of the cervix or a favorable background for the development of cervical cancer. The human papilloma virus is transmitted by the contact and everyday ways, remaining in the skin and mucous membranes.
Human papilloma virus is divided into two groups – high and low risk. A low-risk group combines the types of the virus (primarily 6 and 11) that cause genital warts. The high-risk group includes the 16th, 18th, 31st, 33rd, 35th types of the virus that cause dysplasia of the cervix and increases the risk of cervical cancer.
Every year for help to the doctors millions of people with genital warts appeal. But even more often such a viral infection remains unnoticed, since it is asymptomatic.
Human papillomavirus symptoms
p The symptoms of human papillomavirus depend on the type of virus. Most often in infected people, the virus does not manifest itself, as it is controlled by the immune system.
Condyloms. Low-risk viruses are manifested with the appearance of genital warts. This symptom is characteristic only for 2% of infected people. Condylomas are an indicator of the weakened immunity of the carrier of the papilloma virus. Localized condylomas mainly on the genitals, near the anus and at the points of contact during sexual intercourse. From the moment of infection with the virus until the appearance of genital warts, both weeks and years can pass.
Condylomas are warty growths of a pink or flesh color. Their size ranges from a millimeter to several centimeters. Condylomata can grow, changing over time into multilayered formations (draining condyloma).
In men, the place of formation of the condyloma is predominantly the glans penis, the crown of the head, the bridle of the foreskin. there may be rashes and around the anus. In women, condylomas appear on the labia, the clitoris, the external opening of the urethra, the vagina or the cervix.
Depending on the state of the immune system, condylomas can grow, not change for a long time, or disappear on their own. Condylomas are an extremely dangerous and unpleasant symptom, as they not only impede a full sexual life and cause discomfort, but can bleed and interfere with normal childbirth. Flat condyloma of the cervix is a sign of acute or chronic infection.
Warts (papillomas). Benign skin tumors (papillomas) differ from viral ones because the latter constantly appear and disappear. This process depends on the state of the human immune system. The color of viral papillomas coincides with the color of the skin at the place of formation.
Cervical cancer. Against the background of the human papillomavirus, dysplasia or cervical cancer can develop, so when a virus is detected, a biopsy is shown to sick women. Neglecting regular gynecological examinations increases the risk of developing the disease and moving it to later stages, whose treatment becomes difficult.
In general terms, the symptoms of the human papillomavirus are pain sensation and burning sensation in the genital area, pain can appear when the penis penetrates the vagina, as well as from simple touches. Also, a possible symptom that will be indicative of the papilloma virus may be unusual discharge. The most obvious symptom, of course, is the appearance of the wart itself. But, as already mentioned, the symptoms may not be at all. Many men and women do not even suspect that they are carriers of the papilloma virus.
Causes of papillomas
The causes of infection with the human papillomavirus are, mainly, sex with the carrier of the virus. Contact can be both through the vagina and rectum, and oral. Infection can also occur by the household way (through a handshake) or during childbirth. The cause of papillomas can become and weakened immunity, as well as the impetus to the development of this viral infection can serve smoking, alcohol abuse, severe shocks, flu, problems with the gastrointestinal tract.
This infection is extremely common, and all segments of the population who live sexually are at risk. It is noteworthy that the use of a condom does not provide a guarantee of protection against infection, since the virus is transmitted at any contact with the skin or mucous carrier.
Human papilloma virus does not penetrate into blood or other tissues and organs. The place of reproduction of the virus is deep layers of the skin, and he himself is localized inside the cells. When the virus “ripens”, it moves to the infected epithelium, leaving the surface. It is at this point that the virus becomes contagious. Being in deep layers of the skin, the papilloma virus is asleep and does not pose a danger to other people.
One more reason for infection with the papilloma virus can be visits to places with high humidity: baths, saunas, swimming pools, beaches, ie those places where a person has a minimum of clothes and when the skin is not protected. Infection is also transmitted through household items. if the mother has this virus, it will automatically be transmitted to the child during childbirth. / h / br /
Treatment of papillomas
Do not try to tear, tear off or cut out warts, as this can worsen the condition and the infection can get to other areas of the skin and spread. When papillomas and warts appear on the skin, be sure to contact the dermatologist immediately and do not wait for their increase in size and spread over the body. If the wart is not removed in time, the person expose himself to the danger of infectious diseases, which will seriously harm the health.
Such formations on the skin as polyps and papillomas indicate serious malfunctions in the body. Most often, they occur due to metabolic disorders, with advanced gastritis, colitis, liver and kidney disease or gynecological diseases. To get rid of the papilloma, you need to identify and eradicate the cause of its appearance. It is important to remember that the removal of genital warts and warts does not prevent their recurrence. The only method of preventing their reappearance is the general strengthening of the body’s immune system.
It is noteworthy that the very presence of the papilloma virus in the body is not a sufficient reason for the appointment of treatment. Treatment is prescribed only when certain symptoms appear. It includes antiviral therapy and strengthening of the body’s immune forces. Elimination of the same papillomas and condylomas occurs with the help of laser, nitrogen (cryodestruction) and radio waves (radio scalpel). These methods are sterile and give a qualitative result without leaving scars and scarring.
An effective way to remove papillomas is electrocoagulation, since there are no traces left on the skin after such removal. There is another method of removal, for example, chemical coagulation. Also, the method of introducing directly into the focus of interferon agents, which helps to increase the work of immunity, is also used. Sometimes, for the treatment of the virus, interferon and ozone therapy are used (ozone freezes the activity of the virus for a period of 5 to 10 years).
There are also folk remedies for papillomas. You can, for example, lubricate the wart with celandine juice, milk of dandelion, ammonia to complete elimination. You can also use the juice of sour apples. Warts and papillomas do not like castor oil, which can be used as a means to remove them from the surface of the skin, spreading a foci of infection. / h Prevention of papillomas
